About the club

In the summer of 1968 the inaugural meeting of the club was held at a venue near Portishead Somerset,When the  fledgling club worked out a programme of rallies for the remainder of that year, a steering committee was formed under the leadership of a man called Ivan Millard, and now some 44years later we still have a few of those original members a ringing acclaim of the good times, fun and friendship we all enjoy to this day.

Moose own an estate and private hotel at Winscombe Somerset and early in 1969 permission was granted for the club to clear an area for use as a site for the club’s use, a site was duly cleared and yet for some reason unknown to the writer the site was never established at that time, however in 2004 the site was once again cleared and put into use under a certificate issued by the club through it’s exemption from planning certificates, it can be used by members and families as one unit, or, by members of the public at a specified price, however a maximum of 5units only are allowed on site at one time, this includes tenters. we do however have the possibility of arranging for rallies by other club’s on a different part of the estate.

Our rallies are held in various parts of the country from the South West to the midlands and South Wales Mainly, but we do rally outside these area’s.

Over the years the club has evolved and whilst many of our original concepts remain like caring for our older members, also remembering that providing for children is important, we have moved as times have changed for example taking the children to adventure parks (which did not exist when the club started), yes we do Bar B Que and hold social evenings, but it is free and easy for instance if you see someone sat out enjoying a drink and you fancy joining them you get your drink, chairs etc and do so, we have been known to do a joint meal say roast pork or whatever for some 16 to 20 people and spreading the cost so a three course meal can cost as little as £2-00p, but you bring your own drinks.

To summarise  we have a really good time and are always willing to listen to new ideas, we think we have it pretty well right but who knows so if you are looking for something new come and join us you never know you might even like us!!!
